Beth Taylor and Julius Drake

Date: 11/03/2024 19:30

Beth is a remarable emerging mezzo soprano, a Grand Finalist in the Cardiff Singer of the World 2023.

Go to www.bethmtaylor.com/listen/bbc-cardiff-singer-of-the-world for the clips of her performances there.

Lauded by The Guardian for her "dark and focused" voice, "sensational colouratura" and "spectacular singing" and by The Times for her "fierce, indeed terrifying, cane - swishing" characterisations, Beth is one of today's most electrifying mezzo sopranos in huge demand across the UK and Europe. "Dramatically and vocally exceptional, she is a huge artistic personality and talent" David Cowan, Opera North

Julius Drake is playing the piano with her in a wonderful range of musical gems. He is not just a pianist, his greatest acheivement is his worldwide work with singers and chamber musicians.

The programme are songs by Sullivan, Brahms, Schuman with Irish ballads by Hamilton Harty and Elgar's Sea Pictures made famous by Janet Baker.

This is in memory of Brian Kealy, a founder of this society and life long devotee of recitals.
