News about Ripon Concerts 2020/21
Due to Covid 19, we have had to cancel the first three concerts of the 2020/21 series, due to take place in October, November and December. Ripon Concerts is very much hoping that the concerts arranged for 11 January (with Chagall Piano Quartet), 8 February (Lotte Betts-Dean - mezzo and Joseph Havlat -piano) and 6 March (Marlborough Piano Quartet) will go ahead, provided we can be sure that it will be safe for our audiences, artists and venue staff. We expect to make a final decision in November.
A new book to raise funds for musicians
by Roger Higson and Roger Chapman
Roger Higson and artist Roger Chapman have written "From Duet to Decet" to support musicians, whose livelihoods have been shattered by the Covid 19 pandemic.
This light-hearted introduction to chamber music gives you everything you need to know to enjoy the chamber concert experience.
Find out about musical instruments, ensembles, composers, famous chamber works, venues, music societies, music festivals and much more.
"Informative, entertaining, and thoroughly useful. Just wish we could have had it two years ago when we started to get interested." JA
We wrote the book because we and very many music societies around the country have had to cancel our concerts and very aware of the financial hardship that so many of our musicians have been facing. We felt that this would be a good way of supporting them as well as spreading the message about the joys of chamber music.
A great family stocking present - 76 illustrated pages
Written to support musicians. All proceeds from the sale of this book will be given to Help Musicians UK – (formerly The Musicians Benevolent Fund)

About Ripon Concerts
Ripon Concerts was founded in 1993 as the Cathedral Concert Society and is a Registered Charity. The Society:
- Promotes appreciation of music by presenting high quality live chamber music.
- Advances musical education by allowing free or subsidised entry to minors and their families.
In normal times the six concerts in our season give the opportunity for members and ticket buyers to experience high quality live chamber music. For some people, this is a first-time experience and even seasoned concert goers enjoy hearing unfamiliar repertoire and new compositions. We not only engage experienced and acclaimed musicians but also encourage local and younger performers. Young people attend concerts at heavily discounted prices and children of school age attend free of charge.
Members are constitutionally important to maintain our charity status, and financially to enable the continuing success of our concerts. Even in these unprecedented and difficult times Members are invited to maintain their support at a nominal rate in order to fund fixed costs. In the hope that some concerts will be possible in the New Year, members will receive a discount on subscriptions and two free guest tickets per concert.
|Single membership||£10 per head|
|Joint with partner||£18 joint|

Make a Donation
We ask members to be generous once again by making donations to fund concert and development costs for the future. We realise that this is a big ask in such uncertain times but are optimistic that we will get going again and be able to enjoy some wonderful music.
