The Piano Quartet in A minor, by Gustav Mahler is the first movement to an abandoned piano quartet and the composer's sole surviving piece of instrumental chamber music.

The A major piano concerto K414 is one of three concertos for which Mozart prepared a version using string quartet accompaniment.

Dvorák's Piano Quintet No 2 is full of expressive lyricism with characteristic song and dance elements from Czech folk music.
