Gemma Summerfield, Roddy and others

23/03/2018

We were delighted to have secured the young soprano Gemma Summerfield to launch the 2018-1019 season on Monday July 2nd just passed.

We were doubly delighted to be able to reveal that she was one of the ten finalists (the only one from the UK) in the prestigious new Glyndebourne Opera Cup competition in March.

It has just been announced that she has been awarded the (final) Susan Chilcot Scholarship, founded in 2005 in memory of the brilliant soprano who died at 40 of cancer.

Roddie Williams and Christopher Glyn's new recording of Schubert's "Winters Journey" (Der Winterreise in English) has just been released to great acclaim on Signum Classics.

Ivana Gavric recently gave the world premiere if the new piano concerto by Cheryl Francis-Hoad and will play Beethoven's Emperor concerto at the Royal Albert Hall on 22 September.

Philip Smith is singing Sharpless in Madame Butterfly for Iford Arts throughout July and then moves to the Three Choirs Festival.

James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook are at the Edinburgh Festival in August.
